Cooking up Success: How My Chicken Stock Fuels Business Brilliance

I have a little secret. I hate to cook! Okay, it’s not really a secret. Good thing my husband loves to cook!

You know that saying, “not all of us were made to cook. Some of us were only made to have conversations with the person cooking” well that’s me. I love to talk. My poor guy not only cooks for us every day but he has to listen to all my ramblings and crazy ideas as he is cooking. But he knows what he signed up for. HAHA!

Did I mention he also does the meal planning and usually the grocery shopping? To be fair, when I go to the grocery store I get WAAAAAYYYYY too many things that aren’t on the list. His words, not mine.😂

You know, I get the important stuff like chocolate, sour patch kids, Voodoo chips, cookies, goldfish and ice cream. Honestly, he never gets the good snacks so sometimes I gotta stock up!

Don’t get me wrong, I have my go to’s when I’m in charge of dinner. I rock breakfast dinner (thanks to Martha Stewart’s pancake recipe), chicken kale soup, and homemade mac and cheese. I also make a few other family favs like smoothies, banana muffins, and homemade biscuits. Let’s be real, I am only in charge of dinner about 2-4 times a month.

So essentially I am basically great with breakfasts, blending stuff, baking and soups.

But my shining star contribution in the kitchen is my chicken stock freezer stockpile. Honestly, it’s like the backbone of our kitchen meals and he couldn’t make his magic in the kitchen without my chicken stock. If you don’t have a freezer stocked full of yummy chicken juice are you even the all star of your family?

We use that shit for everything! Making stews and soups, sauces, or even a base for rice or quinoa. It’s my secret ingredient to coasting by the skin on my teeth in the kitchen.

If you don’t make your own chicken stock you need to start! Trust me it’s so easy and makes our soups and meals taste SOOOOOOO much better!

Every time I make my fav chicken kale soup I save the roasted chicken carcass in a reusable bag in the freezer. Anytime I, haha silly me, I mean my husband makes dinner he sets aside carrot peelings, onion and garlic skins, and the cleaner celery ends to add to the bag. Once the bag is full I get out a big stock pot, dump all that in with salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme and fill it with water (enough to cover everything). Bring it to a boil and then turn it down to a simmer for about 2 hours. Once cool, strain it and add it to the freezer for later.

Now I know you are asking yourself, “How the hell does Jenna making homemade chicken stock relate to me and my business?” Oh don’t worry! I’m gonna tell you…

Having your Dubsado freezer stocked full with the virtual version of my homemade stock is going to set you miles ahead of others in your niche.

Now let’s get your Dubsado freezer stocked full of canned email templates, automated workflows that are working for you and not against you, personalized questionnaires at the ready for your clients to share all you need to know about them and their wedding plans.

First, for those canned emails you need to head into your sent folder in your emails and search for those emails you know you send out to every single client. Now copy and paste them into Dubsado’s canned email section. Make sure to label them so that they are easy to search. For example, “Auto – New Inquiry Response”. Labeling them like this will help you keep everything organized and easy to find when you are building out those workflows.

Now, when creating your workflows, set them up in sections. I’ll use my Automate, Elevate and Thrive package workflow’s as an example (see photo below). I break my workflows up into four phases: inquiry,  proposal, onboarding and offboarding. Building my workflows this way helps me keep them short and organized.

Quick tip, when I keep my workflows broken into smaller phases like this I can easily copy that workflow and only have to adjust a few things for new packages instead of building the whole thing from scratch again. WIN!

Now when working with our wedding couples there are so many questions we have for them like, when’s your big day? What venue are you getting married in? How many wedding party members do you have? And, what’s your dog’s name again?

Make things easy on yourself. Instead of having a long meeting to ask them all of these questions, send them a little homework ahead of time with plenty of time to complete it. Having this information already in hand before your call with your client puts you one step ahead and gives you time to focus more on the details and connect more with your client. Plus, it gives you great conversation starters and puts you in their mindset ready with ideas.

I love asking a few personal questions like, “What is a fun way you plan to incorporate something you both love and enjoy into your wedding?” This question not only gets their minds thinking but also gets your juices flowing to help them create their dream wedding, adding in that special spice of what they love and will want to share with their guests.

Another little tip, did you know you can add your questionnaires directly into your automated workflow? And not only that, but you can send reminders to your clients if they haven’t filled it out yet. One less thing you have to remember because your workflow is already doing it for you.

With all of this in place, be fully prepared to wow your clients. They will be running to award you those coveted Google 5 star reviews!

Don’t know where to start? That’s okay! Let me cook you up a great workflow. I may not like to cook, but you know your girl can kill it by stocking that business freezer of yours, leaving you feeling confident when a client comes knocking on your door.

Check out my Automate, Elevate and Thrive offer and let’s transform your Dubsado into and business-boosting powerhouse.

P.S. I know this isn’t a recipe blog but I couldn’t leave you hanging without linking a few of my go to meals. So here you go, a few of my all star go to’s. Enjoy!
