As March unfolds, I am coming up on another birthday and I find myself contemplating a little self-love.
Self-celebration isn’t always easy. As women, we often find ourselves juggling numerous roles and responsibilities, leaving little time for self-nurturing. But as I step into my late thirties with my kids getting older and becoming more self-sufficient, I feel like I am entering into a new chapter of my life, and am reminded of the importance of prioritizing my own well-being.
At 37, I’ve come to realize that it’s perfectly okay to prioritize oneself. Amidst the constant striving to please others, I’ve learned that not everyone will resonate with who I am, and that’s perfectly alright. I’ve discovered that true beauty lies within, far beyond superficial appearances.
Emirebosswoman posted a little quote the other day that really felt like me at this moment: “It’s March. Buy fresh flowers. Get dressed up and take yourself on a date. Choose people that light you up. Have a rom com marathon. Eat the chocolate.” This quote encompasses many of life’s simple joys and I need to be enjoying them more!
So in the spirit of self-care, I want to share a some things I aspire to do this year personally and professionally:
As I reflect on the thought of self love and what I have shared today, I want to share a few valuable lessons:
Firstly, embrace authenticity. Accept that not everyone will understand or appreciate who you are, and that’s perfectly okay. Authenticity is magnetic; it draws those who resonate with your true essence closer while naturally repelling those who do not.
Secondly, prioritize meaningful connections. Invest your time and energy in relationships that uplift and inspire you. Surround yourself with people who radiate positivity and support your growth journey.
Lastly, indulge in self-care rituals. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Take yourself out on dates, adorn yourself with things that bring you joy, and relish in life’s simple pleasures.
So, as we get further into March, I invite you to join me in embracing the journey of self-love. Let us celebrate ourselves, our uniqueness, and the beauty of simply being. After all, life is too short to not indulge in a little self-love every now and then.
